Privacy Policy
Effective July 27, 2026
Get Up N Ride Foundation (“Get Up N Ride,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the Get Up N Ride website and member platform, including when installed to your phone's home screen as a web app (the “App”).
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
Personal information
When you create an account and complete your profile, we collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- ZIP code
- Home neighborhood (optional)
- Date of birth (required — used to confirm eligibility and whether guardian consent is needed)
- Emergency contact name and phone (required, for safety on rides and at events)
- Parent/guardian name and phone (required only if you are under 18)
- Preferred contact method (email, text, or push)
- Bicycle type, riding experience, and shirt size (optional)
- Wellness interests and volunteer interest (optional)
- Your signed participant waiver, including the signer's name and, for minors, the guardian who signed on their behalf
We do not collect a full mailing address — only ZIP code and, optionally, neighborhood.
Activity information
We collect information related to your participation in the App, including:
- Ride registrations
- Event registrations
- Volunteer registrations and approved volunteer hours
- Ride and event check-in / attendance
- Badges earned
We do not currently offer donations through the App, so no donation history is collected. If we add that capability in the future, we will update this policy.
Location information
With your permission, the App may access your device's approximate location at the moment you self-check-in for a ride or event, to help confirm you checked in at the right place and time. We do not use your location for turn-by-turn navigation, route display, or continuous tracking, and we do not access your location at any other time.
You may disable location access at any time through your device settings. If you do, you can still register for rides and events, but you may need a staff member or ride leader to check you in manually instead of using self-check-in.
Device and technical information
Because the App is a web-based platform rather than an app-store app, we do not currently use crash-reporting or analytics SDKs, and we do not collect device identifiers. Our hosting provider automatically logs standard web request information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability purposes, as is common for any website. If we add analytics or crash-reporting tools in the future, we will update this policy to describe what's collected.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Register you for rides, events, and volunteer opportunities
- Process optional paid add-ons (such as bicycle rental fees) through Stripe, where offered
- Communicate important updates, reminders, and notifications about rides and events you've registered for
- Contact your emergency contact or guardian if there is a safety concern
- Respond to support requests
- Award badges and recognize participation
- Maintain a record of signed waivers, as required for physical activities
- Maintain the safety and security of our community
- Comply with legal obligations
Information sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the App:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and hosting provider
- Resend — our email delivery provider, for account and ride/event communications
- Stripe — our payment processor, for optional paid add-ons like bicycle rental
These providers may only use your information to perform services on our behalf. As the platform grows, we may add other service providers, and will update this policy accordingly.
Ride leaders and Foundation staff can see the information needed to run a ride or event safely, including emergency contact details for registered participants. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a participant or the public.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections and database-level access controls that restrict who can see your data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data retention
We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. This includes keeping a record of signed waivers even after an account is deleted, to document that a waiver was in place for a specific ride or event.
Your choices
You may:
- Update your account and profile information at any time
- Choose your preferred contact method (email, text, or push) in your profile — note that push notifications are not yet available but may be added in the future
- Disable location services through your device settings (see above for what this affects)
- Request deletion of your account, subject to the waiver retention noted above and other applicable legal requirements
- Manage your notification preferences, or contact us directly, to control what you hear from us
To make a request, email us using the contact information below.
Children's privacy
Get Up N Ride welcomes participants under 18 in many of our rides, events, and youth programs, such as the Black Knights Chess Club. When a participant is a minor, a parent or legal guardian must create the account, complete the waiver, and agree to these terms on the minor's behalf. We collect the guardian's name and phone number for safety purposes. We do not knowingly allow a minor to create their own account without a parent or guardian's involvement.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App changes. Any changes will become effective when the updated Privacy Policy is posted within the App or on our website, with a new effective date.
